Celebrate Mom!
Free Mothers Day Activity Kit and Story Contest
The Something to Remember Me By Legacy Project is celebrating keepsakes in their free Mothers Day Activity Kit for families and Mothers Day Story Contest, co-sponsored by Reminisce magazine.
The online Mothers Day Activity Kit, available at www.somethingtoremembermeby.org, is filled with fun family activities, crafts, games and homemade gifts, as well as a special section all about keepsakes.
The Mothers Day Contest, which runs April 1 to May 31, 2003, is open to adults and children eight years and older. (Those under 13 must include signed parental permission to enter.) The grand prize is a Something to Remember Me By Lane Cedar Chest and a houseful of Lane furniture to go with it.
The theme of the contest is I opened the cedar chest and inside I found.... To enter, share a true story (in 300 words or less) about a real keepsake in your family, passed down from your mother or grandmother, or one that you hope to receive. Or, as a mother or grandmother, a keepsake you have passed down or would like to give to your child or grandchild.
Describe the people and events related to the keepsakes history, and the keepsakes value and meaning to you personally.
Contest entries may be submitted online on the Something to Remember Me By Legacy Project Web site, www.somethingtoremembermeby.org, no later than midnight Eastern Time, Saturday, May 31, 2003.
If you fax or mail your entry, a typewritten entry is preferred. A mailed or faxed entry must be received by midnight Eastern Time, Saturday, May 31, 2003. Entries must include the total number of words in your story (must be 300 or less), entrants first and last name, age, telephone number (with area code), complete mailing address, and a valid e-mail address (if available). Entries may be faxed to (905) 640-2922 or mailed to Legacy Project Mothers Day Contest, c/o Reminisce Magazine, 5927 Memory Lane, Greendale, WI 53129.

The Legacy Project is a national initiative under the nonprofit Parenting Coalition and Generations United in Washington, DC. Intergenerational educator and author Susan V. Bosak, MA, is the National Chair. The project was inspired by Bosak's book Something to Remember Me By. The 32-page picture book about love and legacies across generations has won six national awards, including Parents Choice.
