Viva Volunteerism!

Teach your family the joys of giving. Become volunteers or honor a dedicated volunteer you know by getting involved in these national events:

National Youth Service Day, celebrated April 11 to 13, has three primary goals: to recognize the year-round service and volunteering efforts of millions of young people nationwide; to recruit a new generation of citizens who are both participants and supporters of youth service organizations; and to promote young people as resources, rather than problems, in their communities. The day is sponsored by Youth Service America. For more information, visit www.ysa.org/nysd/index.cfm or call 202-296-2992.

Angel Soft Angels in Action® encourages children to make a difference in their communities. The program recognizes and rewards children eight to 15 years old who execute exemplary acts of service to benefit their community, a charity or cause. Ten finalists will receive $5,000 and a one-year supply of Angel Soft bath tissue, and will be recognized in a special awards ceremony. To nominate a child for the award, visit www.angelsoft.com.

Nominations also can be submitted by providing the following information:

1) nominee’s name, contact information and date of birth;
2) nominator’s name, contact information and date of birth;
3) parent or legal guardian’s name and contact information; and
4) a 100-word essay, describing the nominee’s dedication to a community, charity or cause. All entries must be submitted to Angel Soft “Angels in Action” Awards Program c/o Amy Pierson, 676 N. St. Clair, Suite 1000, Chicago, IL 60611 by June 21, 2003. Nominators must be at least 18 years of age.
